Carla says, “I drove across the country to Los Angeles when I was just about twenty to be a rock star. The images of Hollywood in the magazines I collected when I was a kid oozed sex and debauchery. You could smell the booze coming off the pages. I wanted to be a part of that world so badly! I’ll never forget driving in to Hollywood for the first time in my 1995 Ford Probe…it was everything I had ever imagined. But as I write this caption, I’m sitting in my new home in the burbs of Illinois. I think the idea with LA is to eat it before it eats you and I had my fill. I call this one Escape From Los Angeles. After I finished it, I realized it had a bit of a Robert Williams vibe. Williams is one of my all time favorite artists.”
