The reference photo was shot at a benefit show RANCID did at the Regency Theater in San Francisco a few years ago. Scott had the pleasure of meeting up with Lars for a portrait photo shoot and told him how he wanted to do a mosh pit painting of one of their shows.

From the artist … “I had been thinking about creating a complicated multiple-figure painting for quite some time, I just had to figure out what I wanted to paint. I was at a Flogging Molly show in the pit and it came to me, this is what I should paint!  Paint a big mosh pit!!! When Covid hit and we were on lockdown, I just went for it. I already had a bunch of sketches that I had done at Cab’s Art Night, plus they all dared me to do one, so I had to put it together. 300 something hours later, I finished it. It was super hard but I learned a lot during the process…”
