Shawn Kimberly Foley was born and raised on the coast of Southern California. She had spent her younger years trying to find her footing in the social crowds around her but always found she was a bit out of step from the rest of “them.”  It was her discovery of Punk Rock that gave her a rhythm to run. She would spend hours in her room listening and reading about the history of East Bay punk bands such as Operation Ivy, NOFX and Green Day. The stories and this music that came from a different place gave her a sense of belonging. It was at her first Rancid show where she got to see this sense of belonging come to life.  She was surrounded by others in a sea of controlled chaos she knew at that moment that she was not supposed to be anywhere else. 

Shawn’s art is a reflection of this feeling. Often focusing on the perspective of the fan, she looks to capture these moments through her art when you hear your favorite band or your favorite song.  Even if it is just for a few hours as you watch others around you sing and dance, you have THAT feeling… you are right where you belong.
